Meet your guide — Financial Coach, Teresa Mitchell

I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and former investment compliance officer, dedicated to teaching women to make better, smarter and more values-aligned choices when it comes to saving, investing and spending.

Background

My own financial struggles taught me two very important lessons about money.
#1 LIFE HAPPENS – no one else is going to be responsible for my financial situation no matter how secure things might have seemed.
#2 NOT INVESTING IS NOT AN OPTION – for most of us any meaningful saving for the future is going to require investing in the stock market due to life expectancy and inflation.

Philosophy

Having a background in performing and culinary arts made becoming a financial advisor an unlikely pathway to money mastery but it has allowed me to put myself in your shoes in a way that is not often typical in the industry. That empathy led me to conclude that helping women connect their values with their money is a more powerful motivation to achieving financial security than any chart, graph or performance report I could ever present.

Accomplishments

  • 20 years in the financial industry, 12 years as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional
  • Coaching conversations with over a thousand women who felt frustrated and ashamed that they had not managed to successfully take control of their financial situation
  • Leader of numerous women’s circles on the relationship of values & money to purposeful investing

Family & Community

I have lived in the Sonoma County wine country for most of my adult life. And while teaching women investment literacy is not a hobby, I can’t think of anything I feel more passionate about or enjoy more.

My original passion was cooking, inspired by my Oklahoma grandmother’s use of food to bring together the diverse personalities of our family. For the past 10 years I have created my own culinary community with neighbors and friends called the Supper Club.

The past few years have brought a major life transition with the loss of both my mother and husband. I won’t say that continuing alone has been easy, but I can attest that having nurtured other close relationships, achieved financial control and found a sense of purpose have made all the
difference.

Who is Lady Money?

I envision Lady Money as an aspirational role model. She is a beacon on the path to financial security and wellbeing. Think of her reaching out a sure hand so you have a better journey.
